Cameroon celebrates day for fight against corruption

The conference room of the regional delegation of the Ministry for the advancement of women and the family Centre in Yaoundé housed on Tuesday, the ceremony marking the 11th International Day of fight against corruption.

It was in the presence of the inspector general of the regional services of the Centre, François Gabriel Litet, representative of the Governor of the Centre and the High Commissioner of Great Britain to Cameroon, Brian Olley.

By reading two speeches prepared for the occasion including that of the President of the national anti-corruption Commission (Conac) and of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, François Gabriel Litet insisted on two essential points: corruption is not inevitable; combating it is the work of everybody.

Well before that, he clarified that this scourge impede efforts to achieve the Millennium development goals, it undermines democracy and the rule of law, distorts markets, degrades the quality of life and promotes organized crime, terrorism and other threats to human security.
