The military high command has decided to "boost the morale" of the defense and security forces mobilized against the Nigerian terrorist sect Boko Haram which has multiplied attacks against Cameroon in recent days.

They put at their disposal an "advanced military equipment" with the capacity of five drones. In this context, "without yet revealing military secrecy", the new Minister of Defence (MINDEF) Joseph Beti Assomo was fielded by the Head of State, Paul Biya, also commander of defense forces and security, in order to carry out a redeployment.

Thus, the MINDEF set sail Tuesday to Kousseri in the department of Logone-et-Chari in Mora in Mayo-Sava in the Far North region which has stumbled in the terrorist attacks.

This area is home to the first sector of the Joint Multinational Force (MIF) set up by the member-countries of the Commission of the Lake Chad Basin (LCBC) and commanded by Brigadier General Buba Dobekreo.

The second phase of the tour will take place at the Joint Military District No. 1 (RMIA 1) and particularly in the East, where Joseph Beti Assomo will inquire into the security apparatus set up to counter incursions by armed gangs from the Central African Republic (CAR).

According to security sources, the high command will proceed with the delivery of new equipment, including drones recently acquired from a US firm.

In the far north, there was still a record of attacks by Islamist sect Boko Haram, particularly in the small town of Kerawa late last week. In the Eastern region, the resurgence of armed incidents in CAR had an impact on Cameroon with the backdrop of a strike by Cameroonian truckers who decided to no longer supply the landlocked countries as "the least security measure is not observed."
