30 leaders operating under various sectors of the Civil Society signed on Thursday contracts under the programme of support for civil society (Pasc), an instrument for cooperation between Cameroon and the European Union (EU) at Mbalmayo (Central Region).

They received 500 million Frs grants, as a result of the second call for proposals (pa2) launched last April.

Justine Diffo, President of the network, More Women in Politics, benefited 20 million for his project on the economic empowerment of rural women to better political leadership. Eventually, through this funding, there is need to measure the migration of 720 joint initiative groups towards cooperatives.

"We are aiming at the OHADA Act on cooperative societies. We shall bring forth, 720 income generating activities that worked in the informal sector and migrate to the formal sector in eight departments", she said.

For Jean Marc Bikoko, another beneficiary whose project focuses on social and environmental responsibility (CSR) within pastoral enterprises in South and Southwestern regions, he examines within companies such as Socapalm, Hevecam, Herackles which are pools of jobs and wealth, if the concept of CSR is respected.

A day before the actual signing of the contracts, recipients attended a session of training and information on the procedures of the European Development Fund (EDF) to clarify them on operational and financial implementation of the actions.

To beneficiaries, the chief of programs at CSP, Bertin Lukanda, prescribed a transparent and efficient management. "These are public resources as well as those of cooperation and it is for this reason that we must use them for mobilization," he said.

He however called on each recipient to manage these resources in an adequate manner.
