Boko Haram has been blamed for two recent attacks, within 48 hours, in the Far North of Cameroon.

The first attack was quelled by the defence forces on the night of July 6 through to the early hours of July 7 which led to the death of three civilians of the vigilance Committee in the villages attacked.

According to military sources, the first attack occurred at Bodo, Department of Logone and Chari near Lake Chad. The attackers who had crossed the border by many vehicles and on motorcycles had approximately, a one hour violent exchange with the Cameroonian defense forces.

Three bodies belonging to the Islamists were found on the site with dangerous weapons and ammunitions.

Another group of attackers crossed a patrol of the vigilance Committee made up of young people who were responsible for the surveillance of the villages in the Department of Mayo-Sava.

Three of them were killed, but the rest managed to send the alert and this compelled the insurgents to a recession. These attacks occurred after there was calm in the region for four to five months.

This is a ‘trompe-l'oeil’ strategy according to the Cameroonian army, which has not had its members and vigilance team weakened after the attack in the far North.
