Three people were beheaded yesterday in attacks attributed to Nigerian Islamist, Boko Haram, in the Far North of Cameroon which has been plagued by suicide bombings for several days, according to security sources.

"Boko Haram Members beheaded three people on Sunday after attacking two villages; Tchébé-Tchébé and Dzaba, about ten km from the Nigerian border,” said a security official stationed in the region.

"The victims lived in Tchébé-Tchébé village where the attack began. Before Boko Haram arrived in Dzaba, the inhabitants had fled," she said. The attackers also "burnt the concessions of the villagers and a Catholic church," the source added.

This information was confirmed by another local security source.

According to this source, difficulties in getting access to these areas located in a mountainous area has complicated the intervention of troops deployed in the north of the country to fight against Boko Haram.

This region is regularly the target of deadly attacks attributed to the Nigerian Islamist sect, Boko Haram. On Saturday night, a teenage suicide bomber detonated, killing at least 20 people and injuring 79 others in the city of Maroua (Far North). It was the fifth suicide attack in two weeks.
