Armed men suspected of belonging to the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram attacked two large trucks which were transporting goods.

One person was injured in the attack that occurred at Dabanga, a village in the Far North of Nigeria bordering Cameroon on Wednesday morning, announced security sources.

The two trucks and their drivers were moving from Maroua, the main town in the Far North, to Kousseri (near the Chadian border) had been the target of rocket fire.

"One of the trucks was carrying beer and other manufactured products," reported one of them who was contacted by Xinhua.

The two trucks were each carrying a driver and an assistant. One among these three carriers were injured.

Dabanga is a locality located on Maroua-Kousseri highway, a stretch of the Douala-N'Djamena corridor which has become risky since Boko Haram began its attacks through hostage taking in Cameroon in 2013. The attacks intensified the following year.

Late 2014, part of this highway was blocked because of anti-personnel mines laid by the fighters of the terrorist group. This was a critical situation for trade in Chad with the rest of the world which led Idriss Déby Itno to join Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger to implement a military coalition against this Nebula.
