The former bodyguard of Cavayé Yéguié Djibril is on the run since the announcement of his dismissal on Monday in Yaoundé.

In a statement dated June 16, the president of the lower house of parliament accused his bodyguard of "acts of terrorism, incitement to robbery and kidnapping."

In the statement, Cavayé Yéguié Djibril does not give details of the acts of which he was a target but decided to hand Captain Bouba Simala to his administration, which is the Ministry of Defense.

The President of the National Assembly also asked the audit department to handle the issue in accordance with the law to institute all punishments necessary against his former henchman for his actions.

If found guilty, the former bodyguard faces the death penalty as stipulated by the new anti-terrorism law adopted in December 2014 in Cameroon.

Aside professional relationship, Bouba Simala is the nephew of Cavayé Yéguié Djibril and has assisted his uncle for two decades.

According to sources, Bouba Simala ordered the kidnapping during a workout session by individuals who were to pose as agents of the Territory Surveillance Directorate (DST).

But the conversation was recorded by intelligence services and then forwarded to the President of the National Assembly.
