Biya orders postponement of Mebara trial

The scheduled trial date of Jean Marie Atangana Mebara, former Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic has been postponed to January 12, 2015.

Cameroon Concord learned of this rumoured development from sources at the presidency of the republic. The death of Ambassador Jerome Mendouga co-accused with Mebara by the Biya regime of embezzling 3 billion FCFA, as part of the Albatros case has made the trial more complicated.

Mebara is at his third CPDM trial; the first two trials led to a 15 years sentence. The reason advanced for the postponement we gathered is based on irregular composition of the judges' college.

It is reported that some of the judges have been removed following the recent appointments made by President Biya. Jean Atangana Mebara is however noted to be a political prisoner who led a revolt against the vicious regime of Mr. Biya.
