A general census for agriculture and husbandry in Cameroon (RGAE) will be launched throughout the Cameroonian territory for a period of 36 months.

This was revealed at the end of a decree signed Tuesday by the head of State Paul Biya.

This operation, under the authority of the departments in charge of Agriculture and rural development, livestock, fisheries and animal Industries, aims to produce structural statistical information, reliable, relevant and sufficiently disaggregated from their environment. Also, operational and technical frameworks are to be produced and sent to the ministries for supervision at the central and decentralized levels as well as actors of ground level capacity.

It intends to implement a data archiving system and strengthen the platform of dissemination of statistical data (CountryStat), a species of the data terminal online.

The RGAE will also contribute to the establishment of a permanent, integrated statistics (SPISA) system, called upon to provide annually, inter alia, updated data on forecasts, production and agricultural land, livestock and aquaculture, the incomes of households, their food and nutrition situation and prices.
