Batouri prisoners support troops with 1,150 FCFA

People of the Eastern region like other regions before them have mobilized an amount of 1,150 FCFA to support the military deployed to the north to fight the elements of the terrorist sect Boko Haram.

In addition to the sum of 1,150 FCFA representing the contribution of prisoners of Batouri handed over by the prefect of the department of Kadeï Alfam Emmanuel who was keen to stress the importance of the gesture; a significant amount of food estimated at 35 tonnes has been mobilized by the poeple. The package include plantains and sweet bananas, cocoyam nets, bags of rice and corn.

The starting point of distribution for these goods to the various sites are the places where the security and defense forces are stationed at the borders between Cameroon and the Central African Republic in the Eastern Region. It began from last Monday in the town of Abong Bang.

In total, the eastern region has contributed an amount "more than 100 million CFA". As per information broadcast on CRTV, the amount to be surrendered to the inter ministerial committee for donor management was established by the president but not donations in kind for reasons not mentioned.

The symbolic gift of prisoners of Batouri have caused mixed reactions amongst the people in the region.
