BIR clash with poachers at the Bouba-Ndjidda National Park

Last Saturday, elements of the 4th Rapid Intervention Battalion (4th Bir) conducted a special operation which proved to be very successful.

As a result of the raid, 250 ammunitions, 4 horses and many elephant tusks were recovered. Operation 'Peace at Bouba-Ndjidda' has already yielded its first fruits at the Bouba-Ndjidda National Park.

Reports from Operation 'Peace at Bouba-Ndjidda' revealed an encampment not identified in the middle of the protected area, elements of Colonel Zacharie Mvondo Obama, Commander of the 4th BIR, made an incursion in the indicated area.

They clashed with heavily armed poachers, leading to a fight between the two camps. After several exchanged shots, the attackers retreated and fled, leaving behind property and weapons.

Inventory revealed more than 250 ammunitions, 4 horses and 4 tusks of elephants, probably from the carcasses found on 14th January by the army.

According to information gathered from military officials in the region, "the poachers are always on the run, but for a long time, because the Cameroonian army is determined to arrest them along with their accomplices".
