Attacks in Maroua: CODE takes on Paul Biya

Bomb victim Bomb victim

Two terrorists blew themselves up around 14:30pm at the Barmaré area and the entrance to the central market in Maroua. The result of these attacks led to the death of 13 people including the two (2) suicide bombers and thirty-two (32) were injured on July 22, 2015.

Sensitive facts: Two girls as young as 15 and 20 were used as human shields for the bomb attacks. The young girls, who posed as beggars implored the generosity of good will, were hiding deadly explosives underneath the clothes they wore.

CODE emphasized that this new heinous attack and other attacks in the far north, are another illustration of the need and urgency of a more resolute Cameroonian action and coordinated fight against the scourge of terrorism and violent extremism.

In these painful moments for the entire Cameroon, CODE salutes in memory of our fallen compatriots in the theater of the macabre operations.

CODE extends its condolences to the bereaved families and wished speedy recovery to the injured.

For CODE, we have always said and will not cease to say, it is Paul Biya that made the Far North of Cameroon a breeding ground for terrorists.

What remedy can be used against this plague that could destroy us all in the appalling rate at which it spreads? How can we record many deaths in this way in areas abandoned by the power of Yaoundé for ages?

For three decades, the regime of Paul Biya has completely abandoned the region of the Far North of Cameroon. No public state investment, no maintenance of obsolete infrastructure, poverty, misery and other various epidemics.

These are the works of an irresponsible and illegitimate regime that rather uses the war against Boko Haram as a political propaganda in favor of Paul Biya, who is credited every success. What success are we talking about?

Dear compatriots, this is the time to consider the indirect causes of this double attack.

Once again, the CODE expresses its gratitude to our valiant soldiers engaged at the front, fighting at the risk of their lives for the Republic is not discarded in the hands of these criminals Boko Haram.

Done at Brussels 22 July 2015.
