American Missionary 'Kidnaps' 15-Year-Old Boy

Although 15-year-old Brathy David Song is said to have returned to his parents, the population of Bamenda is yet to come to terms with information of his earlier disappearance on Sunday, March 17, 2013. The boy is said to have left their Foncha Street residence in the evening and was only seen again in the evening of Monday, March 18, 2013.

During his absence, inhabitants of the Foncha Street neighbourhood accused 61-year-old American Medical Missionary, Begne Leef Junior who also lives in the same neighbourhood. After receiving the news of the missing child, the population stormed Mr. Begne Leef's house and was about to loot it before the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO for Mezam, Felix Nguelle Nguelle and security forces immediately rushed to the scene and calmed the angry mob.

So far, security has been tightened to safeguard the lives of the American and wife, and their property. Eye witnesses say Brathy David Song was seen in Mr Begne Leef Junior's residence on the night he got missing and Begne admitted seeing the boy that day, but claimed not to know his whereabouts. Other people in the neighbourhood accused Begne of wrongdoing, alleging that most often, he rallies young boys aged 14-16 (in the name of a church) every morning and offers them breakfast. After this, he reportedly has sexual intercourse with them, extracting sperm and blood specimen.

According to the mother of the missing boy, Mbah Njong Josephine, the boy left a letter pleading for forgiveness from her, stating that he was going to die after giving in to the devil.

Another disturbing fact is that Begne Leef Junior, born in North Carolina, USA on April 3, 1952, had an authorization to promote community health, but is operating a church in his home.

The SDO for Mezam has withdrawn the authorization, calling on the public to remain calm while investigations continue into the matter.
