Ambassador of France visits National Communication Council

Christine Robichon paid a visit to the National Council Communication at the invitation of officials on Monday.

The exchanges between the leaders of the national Council of Communication (CNC) and Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France in Cameroon was very fruitful. "In this logic to establish a dialogue with certain institutions, it seemed necessary to approach diplomatic missions to let them know what we are doing at the NCC", clarified Peter Essoka, Vice President. Meanwhile, Christine Robichon underlined the interest of her visit.

“I was able to complete my information on an institution of this importance and measure her role in the respect of ethics by the participants in communication", she said. "The bulk of trade revolves around what CNC is or is not. A body of regulation and not of repression, a structure of consultation advice was given on communication, said Peter Essoka who did not fail to recall the context of creation of the Council, thanks to the winds of freedom of the 1990s. The NCC is required as a kind of policeman to guarantee this freedom".

For the Ambassador, the work done since last year has rolled out: 85 cases of regulation, 12 reminders in order of generality, 43 correspondence addressed to some media executives, 17 penalties for breach of professional ethics.

Christine Robichon wanted to know if the texts confer these powers of sanction on the Council and if it actually asserts its independence from the State.
