Algerian Ambassador visits SOPECAM

Merzak Bedjaoui hosted the director general on Monday. A courtesy visit that turned into a working session. This is the scenario of the stay of the Ambassador of Algeria to the Society of Press and Publishing Cameroon (Sopecam) on Monday afternoon.

The Algerian diplomat, arrived in Cameroon in March, continuing his outreach tour with major players of the Cameroonian society. And in his diary, he recorded Sopecam prominently.

Merzak Bedjaoui addressed to Marie Claire Nnana, the CEO of Sopecam, questions relating to the situation of the cooperation between Algeria and Cameroon, current events and the new vision of development advocated by Algeria.

For Merzak Bedjaoui "Cameroon is a country with great potential in many ways. A country that has strong similarities with Algeria and a country with which we must work."

In general for the Algerian diplomat, his country is back to the mainland. It is about strengthening cooperation with African countries. And Cameroon occupies a privileged place in this agenda.

Cameroon and Algeria have the same vision of development. For example, the issue of water and energy equally concerned Algiers and Yaounde. Algeria intends to build with her Cameroonian partner, cooperation which is already several years old. To thin the Algiers-Yaoundé axis, in a few months, the national airline Air Algeria will open a connection to Cameroon. Commercial and cultural exchanges will thus increase. In the same vein, the quota of scholarships offered by the Algerian government in favour of Cameroonian students will increase.

Furthermore, Algeria has, in the recent past, faced the terrorist threat and is also ready to be help Cameroon in her struggle against the Islamist sect Boko Haram.

Incidentally, according to Merzak Bedjaoui, the major contribution of Algeria in resolving the crisis in Mali can be used in the future to reduce the threat against Boko Haram, by the effect of communicating vessels.

Besides, "there is no development without peace," said the Algerian diplomat. Cameroon and Algeria can count on working for peace and progress on the path of development. Before taking leave of his host, the Director General of Sopecam reassured about her availability and that of her staff to accompany him on his mission to Cameroon.
