The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon Cavaye Yeguie Djibril has granted audience to the Algerian Ambassador to Cameroon, H.E. Merzak Bedjaoui.

Discussions during the audience centred on the fight against terrorism and ways of re-launching economic relations between Cameroon and Algeria.

On the occasion, Ambassador Merzak Bedjaoui re-echoed his country’s unwavering support in fighting the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Algerian diplomat indicated that his country is ready to put its experience in fighting armed movements in the present war Cameroon is engaged in with Boko Haram.

Concerning economic relations, H.E. Merzak Bedjaoui underlined the need to revitalise trade agreements between Yaounde and Algiers.

Such trade agreements will be formalised during an ideal forum like the oncoming Economic Partnership Days to be organised between February and April 2016.

In relation to cooperation at the level of the both Parliaments, Cameroon’s Speaker of the National Assembly promised to visit Algeria on a yet-to-be-announced.
