The National Communication Council (NCC) in Cameroon is determined to enforce its decision of June 4 to suspend Afrique Media for a month.

The NCC also noted that the Governors of the Central and Littoral regions are responsible for its implementation.

Afrique Media offices were closed in Yaoundé on August 6, 2015 but the channel continues to emit from Douala, where its offices are based.

According to the president of the NCC, Peter Essoka, Afrique Media will soon stop operating after the return of the Governor of the Littoral region, who took part in the biannual conference of Governors.

"It is not the NCC that closes the media. We make the decisions, and the administration applies them. In Yaoundé, the prefect has done his job. In Douala, I met the Prefect who told me that he is expecting the return of the Governor to make a decision. Hopefully, he should be in by Monday (August 10)", said Mr. Essoka.
