Administrative Buildings: Government Invests FCFA 1.385 Billion in North West

Boyo Senior Divisional Office and Bamenda II Council complex inaugurated on April 17.

The Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, René Emmanuel Sadi has been saluted for commitment to enhance beauty and quality work in the administration and municipalities. The event was the inauguration of the new office of the Boyo Senior Divisioal Office, SDO in Fundong and Bamenda II Subdivisional Council complex during which the visiting Minister revealed that FCFA 1.385 billion has in recent times been invested towards the construction of administrative structures in the North West region.

Among the services are new offices and residences for administrators in Bamenda, Boyo, Oku, Fungom, Menchum Valley, Nwa etc. It was against this backdrop that Mr Sadi announced the imminent beginning of work for the offices for the SDOs of Ngoketunjia and Donga Mantung Divisions next year. It was also a moment for the visiting Minister to stress the need to maintain and preserve the structures in Boyo and Bamenda II for posterity.

Away from their imposing and architectural beauty, the Minister said the SDO’s office and town halls are symbolic and represent the heart beat of State institutions in the Divisions and Subdivisions as places where services are rendered, important decisions taken and facilities through which the people feel a sense of belonging to the nation and fatherland.

The North West will always have their share in nation building, the Minister said while encouraging councils to embrace FEICOM which has stated preparedness to accompany the councils in the realization of their projects. The new council structures are instruments to help the them realize development at grassroots.

They represent the dreams and aspirations of people, the Minister said and sounded off about achievements in the nation’s policy of decentralization, conceived to promote democracy, good governance and development at grass roots.

It cost the State FCFA 230 million to construct the new Boyo SDO’s office, FCFA 207 million for the Fundong town hall and FCFA 180 million for the Bamenda II Subdivisional Council complex.
