Accident Kills Two in Douala

The main entrance to the Laquintinie Hospital resounded with wailing by members of a family, early yesterday morning. After searching for one of theirs in vain for over 24 hours, they finally discovered his corpse in the hospital's mortuary.

One of the family members explained that the deceased, Philippe Tamja was crushed in an accident on Sunday morning, while returning from a wedding ceremony in Manjo. Married and a father of two, the victim was riding his personal motorbike and died on the spot alongside another bike rider. They were alerted by passersby who recognised his bike at the accident scene, reason why they came to the hospital. At press time, burial arrangements were underway, while the other corpse was still unidentified.

A man is reportedly receiving treatment in the same hospital after receiving a bullet. According to reports CT gathered, two armed robbers broke into his residence in the Bonaberi neighbourhood, took some money and mobile phones. But upon assaulting his wife, a nursing mother, he confronted them which resulting to a bullet from one of the armed bandits, who fled immediately afterwards. Police investigations are ongoing.
