About 800 Youths to Embrace Development Training

The National Civic Service for participation in Development, an agency set up in the Ministry of Youth to train youths in Cameroon on developmental activities will begin a two day training of some 800 volunteers in the Littoral Region. The objective is for youths to gain professional skills in activities to create and generate revenue. They should be apt and desire to contribute in the development of the nation in the public or private sector. The training will be in fields like tourism, management, civil protection, entrepreneurship among others.

The first phase of the training according to the Head of the Agency of National Civic Service for participation in Development, in the Littoral, Martin Massoda, will be to train volunteers in groups in agro pastoral field to fight against high cost of living. The second phase which will be next year he said will be done for six months and each youth has to bring a business idea which will be financed by government.

Massoda went further saying the National Civic Service for participation in Development, has a goal to respond to poverty and deterioration of living conditions and favour citizens to become responsible, creative and dynamique. He added that the National Civic Service for participation in Development is an administrative public establishment with a legal personality and financial autonomy. The chief of the Agency said in the trainings priority is given to that which fights rural exodus.

The technical adviser at the Ministry of Youth Nkome Alphonse said the main objective of this agency is to train volunteers, assist the local committee, evaluate micro projects, examine the profile of the resource persons, and accompany trainees in their business plan, among others. He said the youths have chosen youths of between the ages of 25 and 45.

On his part the Littoral Governor, Joseph Beti Assomo said the agency was put in place by the head of state because of his concern for the youths. He called on the coordinators to choose youths in serenity, equity and transparency.
