Twenty-three forestry communes of Cameroon and ten NGOs involved in the protection and management of forests have received grants for a total of 622 million FCFA.

This fund was for the Cameroon Forest and Environment Sector Program (FESP).

The program is funded on the Fund C2D of the French government. These funds, sources said, will be used for reforestation, the development of new forestry units, the financing of certain projects of research and enhancement of forest resources, mainly in the Centre, East and South Regions of Cameroon.

Launched in 2007, the Forest and Environment Sector Program which was reformed in 2012 has a budget of EUR 10 million which is approximately 6.5 billion FCFA.
