AFCON 2016: FECAFOOT to select young talents

The Cameroon Football Federation has hired a physical trainer, a Swiss, Mathieu Degrange, to aid in the detection of young talents for the female African Cup of Nations (CAN) that will take place in Cameroon from November 19 to 3 December this year, official sources informed.

The technician, who arrived on Saturday night in Yaoundé, had a working session the next day with the National Technical Direction before taking an anthropometric parameters sessions with about a sample of 100 girls likely to be part of the selection.

Among the players who have been subjected to these tests, we learn, were the "Indomitable Lionesses" eliminated in the 8th finals of the female World Cup in Canada and unhappy finalists of the 11th All Africa Games (JA) in Brazzaville in 2015.

He also conducted an assessment of the players through a test match, before he assigned to each of the selected athletes' guidance that will enable them to develop their physical capabilities."

In the economic capital, Douala, Mathieu Degrange will on Monday perform similar work session in a training center before giving his findings to local technicians.
