A new clash between Boko Haram Islamist and army occurs in the Far North

In the far north of Cameroon, a new clash between Boko Haram Islamist and army occurred on the night of Saturday breaking Sunday. The army noted that two soldiers were killed. Three people were injured, and several members of Boko Haram died, according to the army.

The clash occurred at Zelevet, in the Mayo Tsanaga. During a patrol, soldiers fell on Boko Haram members, who came to attack a nearby village. A military source described the harsh fighting, during which, "nearly 60 of Boko Haram fighters were killed. This group included a pregnant woman who was arrested.

In recent weeks, Boko Haram multiplies attacks in villages, mostly border with Nigeria. Residents contacted by RFI report that these attacks occur at night.

And that their attackers commandeer supplies and livestock. Wednesday night, for example, in the village of Tchebe Tchebe, the aggressors took cereals and burned 25 concessions in their escape. "They then disappear across the border," said a farmer.

These Flash attacks seem to be more frequent since the Nigerian Army multiplied attacks against the bases of Boko Haram. A Cameroonian military source fears for the development of a form banditry in the region.
