A group claims Autonomy of Anglophone Cameroon

Rev.Fr, Andrew Ambeazieh, Rev.Fr, Andrew Ambeazieh,

One Rev.Fr, Andrew Ambeazieh, who claims to be the president of the Southern Cameroons interim government, formerly the Southern Camerroons Liberation Movement (SOCALIM), has restated that Southern Cameroon has no deal with la Republique du Cameroon. The one time priest of the Roman Catholic Church, was speaking December 30th,2015 at Alakuma-mankon, secretariat of the interim government during a press conference cum 2016 new year message, that pulled about twenty journalists and some members of the government.

According to him the nationhood of Southern Cameroons was restored this year with all legality and constitutionality. “Indeed, this being the case and the reality, the nationhood of Southern Cameroons was restored on Thursday October 1st 2015 after so many years -1995 to 2015 of consistent, systematic, assiduous and relentless work with the international community especially the united nations”. Rev. Ambeazieh said

Following the restoration of Southern Cameroons statehood as purported in the month of May this year, the reverend man disclosed that la Republic du Cameroon has nothing to deal or transact with Southern Cameroons. “The independence days and dates are very precise, unchallengeable and unchangeable”. He added.

However, History tells us that the former British Southern Cameroons gained independence on October 1st 1961 by forming a federation with the already autonomous Republic of Cameroon whose independence was granted by Frances on January 1st 1960. Fundamentalists have argued emphatically that the federal union has worked rather to the detriment of the later in a dominantly French speaking country.

Quoting the existence of Southern Cameroons as provided by, in international law, the head of the interim government said it is time to talk southern Cameroons realities and its right to self rule without doubt. This he said, referring to the biblical book of john 8:32 which says, “And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free”.

Provided no union took place between la Republique and former British Southern Cameroons, Rev. Fr Ambeazieh questioned why the government of la Republique du Cameroon with her military occupation has very tenaciously held the later nation with illegal and wanton exploitation of its rich human and natural resources.

“We are hereby calling the United Nations to give an immediate quit notice to the government of la Republique du Cameroon to withdraw with immediate effect from the independent territory of Southern Cameroons in order to maintain international peace and security as inscribed in the preamble charter of the United Nations”. He fumed

Quizzed on state symbols of southern Cameroons, the interim administrator said all is in the pipeline and will be unveiled at the appropriate time.”When the time comes you will see everything in a constitutional manner. Something like the flag is the authority of the state and should not be hoisted on a mango tree like others have been doing,” he maintained.

Opening the press briefing, the host and member of the interim government Mr Chi Che told media men and women that the complete restoration of Southern Cameroon is now in their hands. “The freedom of this country is now in your hands. We have already laid the foundation. Help us liberate this country." he appealed.

Worthy of note at this juncture is the existence of two homebased interim governments in a nation whose sovereignty exists only in the minds of fanatics given that the day to day activities of the so¬-called Southern Cameroon are stll in the hands of la Republique du Cameroon.

The interim government headed by Rev.Fr Ambeazieh adds to the Revolutionary government of Evangelist Ngwa Aaron Ndeh who also claims to have restored southern Cameroons statehood on 2oth May 2015. Critics call it "childs play" given that non of the above governments has a grip of any territory that falls within former British Southern Cameroons.
