Some Cameroonian truckers were attacked on Saturday evening July 18, by CAR rebels, at Lokoti-Bangui, a town located 70 km from the RCA.
08 Cameroonian truck drivers were killed, reports Le Jour, a local private newspaper quoting the sub-prefect of the locality.
Among those killed ia a trade union official in the region of Adamawa, the paper said.
The Union president of professional drivers of Cameroon has called on Philemon Yang, Prime Minister, and plans to launch a strike late July, for "non-compliance by the Government of its commitments" on the safety of truck drivers.
For several months, Cameroon is the subject of numerous incursions by CAR rebels from the east.
