Heavy fighting ensued between elements of the Islamic sect and the army on Wednesday in Waza, Dabanga and simultaneously at Doulo, less than 5 km from Mora, in the department of Mayo-Sava, Far North region.

8 elements of Boko Haram were killed in the process by the Cameroonian army and at least seven soldiers were wounded. The soldiers are in good condition, we learn from sources.

"Boko Haram fighters simultaneously attacked the towns of Waza and Dabanga with the aim of killing a large number of people per the weapons used," reports the security source who requested anonymity.

In this attack, the elements of the sect fired rockets which destroyed a military vehicle.

Since Wednesday, the army has launched large-scale search operations throughout the Mayo-Sava department, home of the first sector of the Joint Multinational Force (FMM) based in Mora, the capital city of the department.
