700 million to complete construction of the Maroua disabled centre

A mission led by Lassome épouse Moussa, technical advisor N ° 1 to the Ministry of Social Affairs (Minas), visited Maroua last week with the aim of re-launching the work for the construction of the Centre for the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities from Maroua who have been struggling for some time.

According to the Adviser, "the Prime Minister, head of Government, gave firm instructions to the Minister to speed up the work of this project. Therefore, the sum of 700 million FCFA was placed at the disposal of Minas which must finalize the construction of the center by December 2015.”

This project is the fruit of cooperation between the government of Cameroon and the Italian Association of Spastic Assistance (AIAS) of Afrangola, in accordance with the agreement signed on July 20, 2004. It is a project which will ultimately allow the optimal management of persons with disabilities through state of the art equipment in a comfortable site.

On the site, the workers were at work. Work has very much advanced, the closing of the arena is almost complete, the foundation of the residences has already been constructed.

The centre will consist of consultations units, functional rehabilitation, factory of specific equipment for persons with disabilities (prostheses, tricycles, English cannes, etc), and a boarding school. Moreover, it includes a vocational training component.
