60 Boko Haram fighters killed in Zevelec

Soldiers of the Cameroonian army clashed with Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday 09 May 2015, in the town of Zevelec, in Mayo-Tsanaga Department, a few hundred metres from the border with Nigeria.

According to military sources, the evaluation made noted about 60 attackers killed against two victims on the side of the Cameroonian military and 4 wounded, including three soldiers and a civilian.

"We were conducting a patrol Saturday around 10 am when we stumbled upon a column of Boko Haram fighters. They opened fire and we returned the fire. We discovered a well where they often come to draw water and found bags of maize and rice", said one of the wounded soldier of 2nd class, member of the battalion of the air fusiliers. The injured were evacuated to Yaoundé.

"We got them out of emergency. The patients are stabilized. They had already been supported by our advanced posts. When we received them we continued support. At the present time, they are out of danger. But given the fact that Maroua is in a combat zone and that their cases require other complementary neurological treatment in vascular medicine, we moved them for better care in the Hospital of the military area No. 1", explains colonel doctor Jean-Paul Affana, head of the region's military health n ° 4.
