Six people, suspected to be part of Boko Haram, were arrested by the national gendarmerie on Saturday, August 15, at Mokolo, Mayo-Tsanaga Department, in the far North region, according to a security source.

“The individuals we arrested late last week are still under interrogation,” reported the military source.

Defense and security forces launched a vast man hunting since Thursday, August 13, in the town of Mokolo. Bars, restaurants, hostels, hotels, houses and markets were under investigation for several days. The city was surrounded and searched.

This deployment followed the denunciation by the vigilance committees and populations, the presence of suspicious persons in the city, who entered a day before. The suspects entered the town of Mokolo, by the Vizik village, border with Nigeria. Promptly informed, the authorities thought about an undercover operation.

Since the last attacks in the Cameroonian territory, the defense and security forces reassured the people of maximum security. Round-ups are made throughout the country. No city is spared. Identification checks are increasingly strengthened. And the so-called "pre-emptive" measures are taken by the administrative authorities, to protect the population.
