50 fallen heroes of Boko Haram war to be honoured

Members of the Cameroonian military who died on the battlefield against the terrorist group Boko Haram will be honoured by the Republic today Friday, March 06, 2015. The ceremony will take place at the courtyard of the headquarters of Yaoundé.

"This ceremony concerns my comrades who were killed between December 2006 and February 2015. They are approximately 50, all ranks combined" said a Cameroonian army officer reached by telephone by Cameroon - info.NET from Maroua. Maroua is a town in the far North region noted for suffering atrocities of terrorists of the Islamic sect Boko Haram.

"I am answering you at the foot of the aircraft which is bound for Yaounde, with the families of the victims who reside in the North. They will return with the body for burial after the ceremony" noted our source.

A reading of the list of victims, grieving families expected at Yaoundé, will come from the four corners of Cameroon. This is the case for example of the relatives of Captain Elvis Mbene Matute. This native of Southwest was called at the front on 23rd February, and was killed just three days after his arrival. He is among the latest victims of Boko Haram.

According to a funeral program communicated by his family to CIN, the corpse of Matute will arrive in Limbe Friday night. He will be buried Saturday afternoon. When asked about the latest news from the front, our military sources in the North said that there is an uneasy calm.

"Compared to February with a lot of victims, this month of March looks less severe so "the situation is under control. The militants launch sporadic attacks but, the army manages to repel them.
