Four people were burnt to death in Afadé in the Logone and Chari department of the Far North Region when Boko Haram attacked the area on Monday.

According to security sources in the Region, several sect members launched an assault in the Afadé village and the brigade of the locality were largely affected.

The three security guarding the brigade cell that night were killed after a fire was started by the Islamists who came across the Cameroonian resistance troops after their raid.

"They murdered one of their own who was detained at the brigade and set fire to the building before retreating to Nigeria," said a military officer.

On the same night, the same sources indicated that another group of the sect attacked villages in Mayo Tsanaga.

"Boko Haram Members, on Sunday, beheaded three people after attacking Tchébé-Tchébé, Vreket, Moskota and Zelevet, located about ten kilometers from the Nigerian border," informed a colonel.

The commanding officer of the Cameroon army also disclosed that fighters burnt several huts and took away many herds of cattle with them.

These new attacks come when Maroua is yet to bury its dead after Saturday's suicide attack that left 21 people dead and nearly 85 injured. The new security measures set up by the authorities are yet to bear fruit.
