3rd edition of 'Kilimanjaro Top Managers' meeting held

The 3rd edition of the Kilimanjaro Top Managers meeting was held recently in Douala.

The meeting was held under the theme, "Management of human resources, intercultural factors and performance of enterprises in the African context".

On the eve of the 129th international celebration of labor day, Thursday April 30, a panel was put in place to discuss issues of interest in Douala.

Participants include Pr Emmanuel Kabir, Director of the École Supérieure de sciences économiques et commerciales (Essec) in the University of Douala, Mohamadou Nana bode, CEO of the Nana bode group among others.

Stakeholders each demonstrated, through their submissions, the advantages and disadvantages of intercultural factors for a company. In his narration, Pr Emmanuel Kabir took the example of the l'Oréal group which takes account of the habits of the consumer of a given region before putting a product at his disposal.

Reason for which a group of employees can be pulled from all corners of the world. The principle of universality should be implemented taking into account the characteristics, contingencies of the environment, cultural factors (religion, behavior, mentality, family organization), presided over by the Director of Essec.

However, the traditional aspect should not be dismissed. Except that it must be a factor that supports the manager and the vision of his company.

In other words, take what is good in the African Customs and habits and put aside the backward ideas that may interfere with the proper functioning of an organisation.

For Manfred Timba, president of the Cameroon Association for the management of human resources (Agrhu), any structure that is implanted in a territory must take account of the cultural elements of their publics, so as to foster a good integration of staff and the organisation.
