145 former agents of CAMTEL threaten to launch protest actions

Camtel Camtel

Some 145 former agents responsible for the distribution of telephone bills for CAMTEL have, in a letter to the Prime Minister, decided to observe a protest at the main entrance of the Directorate General of CAMTEL from September 4.

The agents said that this will occur if their complaints are not taken into account.

Two reasons motivated the letters by the former agents: the establishment of their certificate of employment and the payment of eviction compensation amounting to FCFA 5,100,000.

According to the information in the l’Épervier newspaper, one of the leaders of the Group of 145 former distribution agents of telephone bills said that they were notified of their dismissal by the Directorate General without any valid explanation in 2007.

They thus declared overnight, a persona non grata against CAMTEL, the newspaper said.

According to l’Épervier, recruitment of these agents goes back to July 8, 2002 due the difficulties that the company met for dispatching invoices to its subscribers. Nguiamba Loutsiri was the Director General during that period.

Since 2007, several negotiations were conducted to demand the rights of the dismissed workers, the Newspaper revealed.
