The Presidency of Cameroon made a press release following the attacks perpetrated in Maroua, regional capital of the far North, on July 22.

The full release by the Minister Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Republic was read over the 5pm newscast on the CRTV National station.

“On July 22, 2015, two terrorists blew themselves up around 2:30pm in the Barnare neighborhood and at the entrance to the central market in the city of Maroua. The casualties recorded were 13 dead including the two suicide bombers and 32 wounded.

H.E Mr. Paul Biya, president of the Republic, condemns with the utmost resolve these shameful and cowardly attacks perpetrated against innocent people. He sent his sincerest condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The president of the Republic reiterates to the populations his advice on vigilance and close collaboration with the security forces. He assured them that serious measures, which he recommended, are already underway and will inevitably incapacitate these bloodthirsty criminals.”
