Thomas Marck Hickson, President of the International Federation of Dodgeball (WDA), completed his working visit to Cameroon a few days ago.
The objective was to examine the possibilities of introduction of Dodgeball as a sport in Cameroon.
During his stay, he met officials from the National University Sports Federation (Fenassu) and National Secondary School Sport Federation (Fenassco), League A, to establish platforms for collaboration around this sport far unknown in Cameroon.
According to Hippolytus Njoh Kum, President of the Cameroon Dodgeball Association, more than 750 students practice Dodgeball in Cameroon.
Introduced in the United States, Dodgeball is played with six against six for five periods of three minutes. At the beginning of each period, players are placed facing their opponents at the opposite extreme of the field. At the signal, three players from each team run to the middle where they arranged three balloons to catch them before the opponent. A player is eliminated when he is hit by an enemy bullet.
If a player catches the ball, then the pitcher is excluded. A team wins when it eliminated all opposing players or if it is larger than its opponent after the match.
