The kickoff of the 15th edition of the Chantal Biya Grand prix will begin on October 15, 2015, in Douala, announced the president of the Cameroon cycling federation (FECACYCLISME) on Monday.
According to Honorré Yossi, it will be the first for Cameroon's economic capital, which will be well celebrated.
Douala, being the selected city, will allow the federation to “provide a response to a request that has been in the pipeline for some time,” he said.
Based on the activities, it was stated that the program criterion on October 15 in Douala that the riders will start the race at the Reunification stadium, to the university, carrefour Ndokoti, Bp Cite, etc. then back to the stadium.
This covers a distance of approximately 7.2km and it will give a new dimension to the competition that will take place the day before. Riders will cover a distance of about two kilometers to begin the competition.
Other joints for this year’s edition: On October 16, 2015, there will be a run from Yaoundé-Ebolowa and the Zoétélé-Sangmelima-Meyomessala stage the following day. Cyclists will, on October 18, take on the in Sangmélima- Yaounde section, the last stage of the competition.
After the Sangmélima- Yaounde stage, all cyclists will convey at the May 20 Boulevard in Yaoundé.
A total of 12 teams are expected for this 15th edition of the Chantal Biya Grand Prix, from Cameroon (two teams), Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, France, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
Meanwhile, the various committees of the local organizing committee are working to improve the organization of the competition, with a focus on the aspect of mobilization and bunting, health, communication, logistics, and security.
