Chantal Biya Grand Prix to kick-off in Douala

The Littoral Region, particularly Douala, will host the 2015 edition of the Chantal Biya Cycling Grand prize in October.

This was announced on Friday by the organizing committee of the competition, during a press conference held at the Institute of Gulf in Ndogbong.

The media event was an opportunity for the president of the Cameroon Cycling Federation, Honored Yossi, to reveal the different stages of the course of this competition of cycling from October 14 to 18.

In addition, the President announced Douala as the chosen venue to launch the 2015 edition. Yossi Honoré also made a statement on the level of preparations for the competition, the number of participating teams and preparation of Cameroonian competitors.

It was therefore made clear that the first stage will kick-off at the Bépanda Annex, through to CAMTEL, Angel Raphael crossroads, Sic City and Bp city. About 16 laps have been planned. The second stage will run between Yaoundé and Ebolawa, the third will start from Zoetele to Sangmélima via Meyomessala, and finally the final sprint and final stage will begin from Sangmélima to Yaounde.

The reason Douala was selected is based on the interest of the organizers because of its cosmopolitan nature and the fact that many sponsors can be unearthed, which will enhance competition. The preparations is so far on track and all is set for Cameroonian Cycling Day and especially the Chantal Biya Grand Prix as a major event, according to organizers.

Ten racing teams from Africa and Europe are expected. The members of the Cameroonian teams are already at hard work, under the guidance of senior technical supervisors. The delegate of Sports and Physical Education in Littoral, Emmanuel Guidio, who took part in the press conference assured the organizers of the personal involvement of all authorities in the Littoral region.
