Team work makes the dream work- Walter Ebelle

Walter Ebelle Walter Ebelle

With tough entrepreneur soul and an ambitious optical lense, Cameroon has good days ahead as it counts more and more young people who are daring enough to make life better for themselves and the country at large.

Today DCK takes through the interview below to meet one of them, Walter Ebelle, co-founder of Arise Entertainment. Enjoy the read.

Q: Hello Walter, thank you for accepting this interview.

A: Hello Douala C'Koment, I am the one supposed to thank you for giving me a space on your platform.

Q: If you had to make a brief introduction about yourself, what would you say?

A: Walter is a young man in his early twenties. An economics student and enthusiast about the media and entrepreneurship as well as cuisine. Those who know me say I’m smart and resourceful. Some people once told me that I am a “strategic person”. I do not know how true that is but I take it in good faith anyway (laughs).

Q: If the information we have is correct, you now live in Asia for your studies. Can you tell us about your educational background?

A: Yes I have lived in China for over 4 years now.

My education:

I got a D Bachelor (Hons) Centre Educatif d’Ekoudou-Bastos in Yaoundé and then I did a year at the University of Yaoundé II. During that year I got a scholarship from the China-Cameroon cooperation and in September 2011, I landed at Beijing Language and Culture University where I graduated in Chinese language before joining Yanshan University now studying International Economy.

Q: Let's come to Arise, why did you come up with musical entrepreneurship?

A: In fact Arise was born out of necessity. My tenant and I primarily managed the career of the artiste, Numérica. We sometimes encountered situations where we had to be represented by a legal structure and had almost the same ambitions. It was only natural that we co-founded Arise Entertainment.

Q: Who are the people you work with to run the daily operations?

A: Arise is a complete structure. We have a Marketing Manager, Eloundou; a Communicator, Arnold Ngatcha; a General Manager, Olivier Tientcheu and within a short period we had public relations persons and many people who lend us their help every day. We are a team; a family that grows gradually.

Q: The management task is more artistic and not an easy task. How do you manage to handle the pressure?

A: As someone said, “Team work makes the dream work”. I think teamwork helps

Q: What were the latest developments of Arise these recent months?

A: The recent months have been particularly rich in experience. We managed to promote the ‘My Own Way’ project. An EP recently released by Numérica that is available in several outlets in Cameroon. This is something that was long been planned and it's nice to see positive proceeds. Otherwise Arise is also sponsoring Numérica. We will tell you more very soon but know that the work is still ongoing.

Q: We also know you are involved in other projects such as Standard Life or Black Square Media Mag; can you tell us more?

A: Certainly, nothing can be hidden. Yes indeed, I am more or less involved in Standard Life Media and Black Square Mag. Regarding Standard Life Media; this is a house of "visual communication" as my partner, Daniel Bigdi likes to call it. We primarily carry out visual communication supports for individuals and businesses and I am responsible for the corporate aspect.

We have a few achievements and already count Numérica asone of our clients obviously. But there are other artistes such as rapper Dareal or beatmaker A.N.G, l’entreprise Seigneurie, Big Dreams Entertainment and Starter Mag among others.

As for Black Square, it is a media firm founded by people I know well and I bring my ideas by contributing in articles under the creativity world. I do that when I can. That's basically what it is for these two entities.

Q: More personally, what does Walter do when he is not working?

A: I hangout or I do the cooking in general. I also visit to the gym lately so now I do not mind about my weight.

Q: Walter thank you for this rewarding dialogue. Any last words for our readers?

A: My last word will go especially to your team, Douala C'Koment, thank you for having me and a lot of luck for the future. You have made a remarkable and noticed work.
