Aside having a voice that flatters the listener, Cécile Eke has a good sense of fashion. The artiste is also a keen about elegance, chic and glamor. Cécile nurses her looks with a lot of class. We present to you Cécile Eke in an interview below.

Q: What is your perception about fashion?

A: You know with the fashion today, I think everyone has their own inspiration. Otherwise, there are trends in fashion that are universally common. An example is women’s jeans that have always been trendy. Men’s jeans also remain timeless.

There are pencil skirts that suit the female’s physique and can be worn anytime. Others are flared dresses, tights and skinny pants that are seen everywhere today although it’s not meant for certain body types.

Nonetheless, the African fashion is endless than the rest. I particularly like accessories made of African prints; necklaces, earrings, bracelets just to mention a few.

Q: In terms of colours, what are your preferences?

A: Oh, that! I have so many you know (laughs). I like the blue and green colours a lot.

Q: Do these colours have any special meaning to you?

A: I think it’s because of their ‘brighter’ shade. I also look out for flashy colors just to be in a good mood all the time. As an artist, one must be able to create new things very often and have an inspiration. Otherwise, I also like classic colors like white and black.

Q: What's in your closet this week?

A: I have relatively casual clothes for the week. Earlier this week I succeeded in wearing long dresses especially ones made out of the lace fabrics. During the weekdays my outfit are more decent and not too sexy.

When it gets to the weekend I wear either a pair of jeans or leggings and pair them with lots of glitter. I have a thing for ‘bling-bling’, especially for outings.

Q: And Sunday?

A: I go to Church on Sundays and my outfit has always been long dresses. I prefer an outfit that covers my arms and feet. In short, one which does not reveal parts of my body.

Q: With heels or not?

A: I must admit I wear a lot of high-heeled shoes (laughs). Slippers, shoes and heels; I love them high. I also wear boots occasionally, especially when I'm in leggings

Q: What about your makeup?

A: I wear makeup. I apply the foundation but not too much. I often wear lipstick but I sometimes get the impression that it hardens my face. So I let myself go with what is called the nude makeup today; with very natural colors and discrete. I sometimes do not wear makeup at all. It’s either a liner for my eyes and nothing on my lips; just a foundation and the result is perfect.

Q: An advice for ladies who wear makeup?

A: I would recommend that a lady wear subtle makeup because ladies who frequently apply a lot of makeup end up looking older than they are as time goes on. It is true that some find it flattering but at the long run, lines begin to appear on the face making them look three or four years older and no woman would want that (laughs).

So I urge women to limit themselves to discreet makeup. For the ladies who prefer lip gloss to lipstick can use red or burgundy, depending on their complexion.

Q: About your privacy, with your permission of course, do often opt for strings when it comes to your undergarment?

A: (Laughs) Ouch, Oh My God! Well, before becoming a mother I wore them in order to be fashionable but something happened and I decided not to wear them. Otherwise I like attractive stuff lace and cotton. But in other to observe more hygiene, one should limit the number of times she wears them.

Q: How often do you go to the beach? Do you wear bikini or a one piece swim suit?

A: I will be honest with you; I am scared of swimming even though I still go to the beach with a one piece swimming suit. I once wore a bikini and I did not feel comfortable in it. Moreover, a two piece swim wear requires embellishment like epilation (hair removal)

Q: How about your manicure and pedicure?

A: This is my hobby; I pay much attention to them. Besides there is a story that I just remembered; while in a waiting room one day, a gentleman who sat next to me kept gazing at my feet.

He said: "Madam, may I know your name? I told him and he replied saying, “I asked you because you have the cutest feet” So I felt very happy with my manicure and pedicure. I really take care of that. I polish my nails from time to time except my fingernails because I do a lot of cooking.

Q: And what is your favorite hairstyle?

A: Sometimes I wear weave-ons or box braids (rastas) but beyond the cuts I prefer to tie scarves around my head and I have a good collection of all colors. I know how to tie and I love them. Otherwise, African hairstyles are my favorite.
