Douala prepares for the Festival of Music

At the regional delegation of the Arts and Culture in Littoral on June 16, 2015 in Bonanjo, final arrangements are being put in place. Preparations have been launched since last year, between November and December.

Aside the Brazzaville area yet to be confirmed, others are ready for the five days of the celebration of the 34th edition of the Festival of Music in Douala.

This will have Makepe as the main stage hosting the delegation of fifty artists sponsored by Minac and supported by Shell New Bell for music varieties, Bali for music research and heritage, the Akwa French Institute of Douala for Space "discoveries", Bessengue for the gospel.

Religious music will also be found in Bonabéri at a place called "Grand Baobab". Classical singing will also be at the rendezvous in the multipurpose room of Arts and Culture in Bonanjo. From classic music, there will be a regional competition which will end with a recital. Multiple activities will cover the city docked with the popular spirit of the holiday.

Everything is not happening on that stage as workshops are held for example in Bessengue and in Bali. Bali where the Zikmu movement opened from Monday. Beyond musical techniques, the young artistes are also booked on the show aspect of a concert.

In terms of stage, set design, choreography, we find a big name in Cameroonian theater, Eric Delphin Kwegoue. Participants of the workshop are also aware of the image of the art by Nakuin stylist. "Whatever art we do, we need to have a serious picture. The artist is a product that needs to know how to sell. We must therefore pay attention to his appearance," said the designer.

Other activities include Cameroon film projection, France, the United States and the Democratic Republic of Congo in relation to music, projecting from June 10.
