It came as a surprise when Ma'a Chantou attended the Miss Cameroon 2015 finale which had Jessica Ngoua Seme crowned as the Queen on July 11.
But the biggest surprise was that she was not in the company of Pa'a Paul but her daughter, Brenda Anasthasie Biya. Apart from that day, the public only had the opportunity to see mother and daughter together during official events.
More intimate pictures of Brenda and her mother were posted on Brenda’s Instagram page. The beautiful young lady talked about the love she had for her mother while adding that she is her role model. What's wrong with wanting to look every bit like your model?
Chantou is known worldwide for her unique and peculiar fashion taste. Brenda, also a fashion-addict like her mother, is much more conventional with her choice of clothes. Nonetheless, in her aspiration to look like her mother, she has made it a point to adopt the style of the first Cameroonian Dame.
At the Miss Cameroon finale, Brenda was seen in a similar attire her mother had worn before. This decision did not escape the sharp eyes of Cameroonians.
And surprisingly it seems Brenda dresses are not directly from the collection of a famous international designer but rather from Ma'a Chan’s collection. “Scandal” "Recycling", "Raiding" and other words were used by Cameroonians to describe what they term as a “Horrible act”.
The criticisms which were somewhat irrelevant were not taken kindly by the sensitive Brendy. Once again, she responded to all the critics via her Instagram account.
She said, "I borrow the clothes of my mother and then what?", "What happens after you talk about it”?
Good answer from Brenda Biya since Cameroonians liked to talk a lot. If she had worn a new dress "overpriced" she’d be accused of using the people’s money on clothes. She could dress in an “already worn dress by her mother” if she so desires.
