Meyomessala commune embarks on cocoa project

The commune of Meyomessala has established a communal company for the processing of cocoa in Meyomessala (SCTCM) and its main objective is for the cultivation of cocoa, cocoa processing, seed production and marketing of cocoa and its products in June 2015.

This was revealed during a press release on July 15, 2015. The town is located in the southern region of Cameroon, about 250 Km from the capital of the country, Yaoundé.

The Board of Directors of the new agro-industrial company is chaired by the Mayor of the Meyomessala municipality, Christian Mebiam Mfou'ou, who had also been authorized to create communal society of mining (SOCEM) and to manage two gold and diamonds sites discovered on the territory after a municipal Council was held on 20 December 2014.

With the creation of the SCTCM, Meyomessala thus intends to play its role in the increase of cocoa processing capacity in Cameroon, which concerns both the government and the cocoa-coffee umbrella organization.

But, with the establishment of this new structure, Meyomessala commune is located closer to some Cameroonian towns that also deals in the exploitation of local resources. Meyomessala has joined, in this category, the communes of Dimako (a communal forest operations), in the eastern area of Sangmélima (shareholder of the Société de transformation de Sangmelima cassava, Sotramas), in the southern region.
