The head of state has signed a decree ratifying a loan agreement amounting to 9.4 billion FCFA, contracted in July with the African Development Fund (ADF), one of the two counters of the African Development Bank (BAD).
According to sources, this funding will partly finance the programme for the rehabilitation and strengthening of the resilience of social-ecological systems of the Lake Chad basin, implemented by the Commission of the Lake Chad basin (CBLT) composed of Cameroon, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, CAR and Libya.
This Commission has four main objectives "managing sustainable and equitable management of Lake Chad and other eponymous basin shared water resources, the preservation of ecosystems, the promotion of integration and the preservation of peace and cross-border security in the Lake Chad basin".
