The Japanese project in the development of Cameroon was evaluated during a meeting between Minepat and Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon Thursday.

The fish pond of the ICG, integrated training and development Centre for rural youth in pastoral activities (Cifodjrac), at Afan-Oyoa, in the district of Mbankomo, was positive.

Significant production, a modern hatchery equipped with leading-edge equipment, sedimentation tanks equipped with ecological filters that will permit the increase in production to 50 000 in 40 days, according to the promoter, Bienvenu Obama.

This structure is a fine example of twelve national projects thanks to the support of the Japan project. A success that brought in Kunio Okamura, Japanese Ambassador to Cameroon, a sense of satisfaction with the good use of the 3.25 billion granted by his country to Cameroon, as an aid to economic and social development.

The grant provided to Cameroon, in the context of the Japanese policy of aid to developing countries, was the subject of a working meeting between the Minister of the economy, planning and regional development (Minepat), Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi and Kunio Okamura in Yaoundé.

This was an opportunity for Pélagie Nguimout Ekong, Permanent Secretary of the gift off the Japanese project, to present the implementation of the gift. The two also examined the agenda for the various projects selected among which, 17 bridges in Meyomessala, the extension of centre de développement de la femme d’Endom and that of the electrification of the Sokelle village.

"We stopped at a certain number of areas including, those which goes towards production, those which has to meet the expectations of producers and support in the creation of jobs. The projects were rendered in their implementation phase", explained Minepat.

Japan has implemented a policy to assist developing countries, through the promotion of micro-projects and support for the fight against poverty. Within the rank of selected countries, Cameroon received in 2012 financing of 3.25 billion for the fourth consecutive time. The support was distributed across sectors such as health, school infrastructure as well as water and electricity.

To get a clear idea of the work carried out in the context of selected projects, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi and Kunio Okamura raided Gic, Cifodjrac, one of the recipient structures of such support. It was a satisfactory visit for the Japanese Ambassador who noted a wealth of donation in the context of Cameroon-Japan cooperation relations.

At the end, the two personalities expressed their wish to see this thrive and even contribute to the promotion of such revenue-generating initiatives. The diplomat concluded by announcing other projects aimed at helping Cameroon reach emergence.
