Gov't to construct three markets near Nigeria and CAR borders

The Cameroonian Government has launched a tender for the control and supervision of the construction of three markets at the borders shared with Nigeria and Central African Republic (CAR).

The three Fotokol market places will be situated at the closest border to Nigeria; Ekok,a town that also shares a border with Nigeria, and Garoua-Boulaï, located at the East region of Cameroon and shares a border with CAR.

These three markets will thus be added to Abang-Minko and Kye-Ossi, both located in the southern region of Cameroon. They are the main places of trade with Gabon and Equatorial Guinea traders.

According to sources in charge of the project,other projects of the same type would also follow in the coming years.

It will be for the Government to capitalize on the geographical location of Cameroon from Nigeria, be the leading economy in Africa and countries of CEMAC and ECCAS which cumulatively represent a market of 300 million consumers.
