The Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation (MINRESI) has revealed that France has granted a funding of FCFA 245 million to promote agricultural research in Cameroon.
The funds that come from the second Contract of Debt Reduction and Development (C2D) will be used to subsidize the extension of research results in the areas of agriculture and animal husbandry conducted in laboratories.
According to the APA, five cooperation agreements were signed between the Ministry of Scientific Research and Innovation and five laboratories. Research will focus on the cultivation of pepper, production and processing of poultry and an extension of the feed mill equipment. There are also two conventions focused on beekeeping to produce honey.
The second C2D funds are covering the period from 2011 to 2016. At a cost of FCFA 214 billion, it focuses on agricultural development, urban development and vocational training.
The first amount of FCFA 352 billion was intended for 2006-2011. It focused on the construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure, roads, schools and hospitals.
