Fishing-Agriculture: Fruits of cooperation

Christine Robichon met beneficiaries of C2D-AFOP program.

Having the field of national professionals who can deal with the foreign stranglehold on the fisheries sector. This is one of the objectives of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industry.

Objective is realized through the training center for young fishermen in Bonamatoumbé 4th in Douala, created in 2004, funded since 2009 by the C2D-AFOP program (Debt and Development Contract-Support for vocational training).

And it is in the context of the achievements of this project that Christine Robichon, Ambassador of France in Cameroon, at the head of a delegation of the two countries, visited the school to talk with the beneficiaries.

The center does not only form fishermen, farmers too. Representatives of the two vintages sectors notably discussed the benefits of the C2D-AFOP, particularly in the employment sector. Christine Robichon in this sense estimated useful move, "to have a better perception of this through cooperation, France provides to men and women in the territory, to support them, help them set up projects that enable them to create agricultural enterprises and fishing and to support their families, also create jobs for others. "

In terms of employment precisely, the first class of master-fishermen already are in the field. They are 36 in total, divided into 6 fishing companies with C2D-AFOP funds amounting to FCFA 10 million per group. As for farmers, 18 of 70 are already installed on their own account. Funding for 23 more should be effective in the coming days.
