First investors fair to be held in Douala from November 25-27

This was an announcement made by The Director General of API, Marthe Angéline Minja, has announced that there will be the first investors fair to be held in Douala from November 25-27.

According to her, it is now paramount for this agency, to attract more foreign investors.

Marthe Angéline Minja was quoted in Cameroon Tribune that this forum will result in interaction, national and foreign economic operators, to establish new business relationships, while consolidating existing ones.

For three days, participants and the public will undergo thematic workshops and plenary sessions with discussions. Also scheduled during this meeting where 25 000 guests are expected, are B2B meetings, round tables on funding issues , exhibition stands and the presentation of awards.

API in brief

(A.P.I) Investment Promotion Agency is a public administrative establishment with legal disposition and financial independence. Its headquarters is situated in Douala. A.P.I is placed under the technical supervision of the Ministry of the Promotion of private investment and the financial supervision of the Ministry of finance.

Its missions The A.P.I’s mission, in conjunction with other authorities and public and private bodies concerned, is to contribute to the development and implementation of the Government's policy in the field of the promotion of investment in Cameroon.

As such, the A. P.I is responsible inter alia: promoting the image of Cameroon abroad; to participate in the improvement of an incentive and conducive environment for investments in Cameroon; to propose measures to attract investors to Cameroon as well as to improve the implementation of sectoral codes; to set up a database of projects available to investors.

The services offered

A.P.I ensures investors utilities such as: reception, assistance and direction of foreign and national investors in the stages of implementation of investment projects; the reception and the processing of application for licence to one of the privileged arrangements provided for in the investment Charter as well as the regime of the projects by the General Tax Code; obtaining the necessary visas for the implementation of investment programs and firms approved and the residence of their foreign staff in Cameroon; the assistance of the companies authorised in the necessary steps for the implementation of their investment programs; the establishment, in conjunction with relevant technical services of the administrative procedures simplified by type of activity; the monitoring and control of the implementation of the commitments undertaken by approved companies.
