Coffee from Cameroon, Gabon and Togo win 5 international awards

African coffee has created a sensation in the first edition of the coffees contest held in Paris under the aegis of the Agency for the promotion of agricultural products (AVPA).

The competition which was between coffees originating from Africa, Asia and Latin America saw the African continent win five awards through Cameroon, Gabon and Togo beans.

This performance was surprising especially as we know that the sector is more than the shadow of what it was in the Western and central parts of the continent.

Though Ivory Coast nor the major producers of East Africa were present in Paris to represent Africa, the performance of the participating countries has once again demonstrated the full potential of the sector, especially on this niche market, indicated RFI.

What encouraged the players in this sector to redouble their efforts is to impose their production against the leadership of their Asian and South American competitors.
