The People’s Republic of China has made a donation consisting of lighting and cold equipment valued at 1.5 billion FCfa to support Cameroon through the Ministry of Water and Energy (MINEE).

The material thus offered by the Chinese Embassy in Yaoundé on Monday, August 3, 2015, consists of 300 000 lamps and 1 900 economic air conditioners necessary for the implementation of the programme called 'Energy Efficiency' which will be deployed within MINEE in Yaoundé as well in all representations of MINEE in Cameroon.

It will thus be mandatory for the MINEE led by Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna, to significantly reduce the energy used in his department and for the State to do same.

Li Zi Liang, commercial attaché at the Embassy of China in Yaoundé noted: "this is not the first gift to the Cameroonian government specifically, the MINEE and will not be the last.

Present at the solemn ceremony was Richard Balla, Director of Renewable Energy and the Control of Energy (DERMIS) in Cameroon who said over CRTV that "he requires them to use fuel-efficient equipment which will lead to lesser electricity bills for the State.”

This gift comes under the energy efficiency project implemented by MINEE to seek ways and means to reduce electricity consumption and, above all, have invoices that can be easily paid by the State".
